Superfluous~ this is your word!

SUPERFLUOUS! This is the word I am declaring over my friends and family this new year!

I speak a superfluous blessing over your life this year, may it be like a stone thrown into a pool. The stone being your blessing and the ripples affecting the people in your life.

Here is the definition of Superfluous.

Makenna

I have a beautiful 13 year old niece, Makenna. She is becoming a great young woman! Makenna lives in Iowa with her mother and step dad so I only get to see her a few times a year. I really enjoy the time I get to spend with her. She is trying to move here to live with her dad and my sister but her mother is not making it easy on her. If you think about it we would love for you to pray for her situation.

Makenna came into my life when she was 4 years old. (that is Morgan's age)

Malone' s Christmas 2008

The Malone family had a great Christmas this year. I have to admit I'm glad it is over. I always love decorating the house and I usually leave everything up until January 1st but not this year. As you may know we have a 6 month old kitten and she just LOVED the Christmas tree. She thought we installed it for her climbing pleasure! Needless to say many of the branches had fallen off the tree and it looked pitiful! I took all the Christmas decorations down today! While it's a challenge to find a place for all the new toys it's always nice to get the house back to normal. We are planning on playing musical bedrooms this weekend so that should be fun and the house won't truly be back to normal until we get everything moved around. I am looking forward to being in the bedroom with the half bath. Okay so here are some pictures of our Christmas holiday. Enjoy!

The Smile

A couple of weeks ago I took a day off of work so that Caleb and I could spend his birthday together with no kids. Being the task oriented person that I am we had a plan. We would start out eating donuts, do some much needed Christmas shopping, eat a birthday lunch at Cheddars and be done in time to pick Morgan and Claire up from KU at 2:30!

The day was great, we got everything done and had a blast doing it. I also had a very unexpected blessing that helped start the day off right. When we go to donut stop on Georgia we like to sit in the back room. You know the one with the glass wall where you can watch the donuts roll through the glaze. Caleb and I were sitting there having a nice conversation when this pretty girl walked by that big glass wall. I noticed she was smiling at me and so I politely smiled back. Then I realized she just kept smiling and I thought
~ Oh, there must be something wrong with her~
Then I felt the Holy Spirit say ~ Why do we automatically think something is wrong with someone because they are smiling~

(maybe they know something we don't)

In that moment I was convicted and I thought maybe there is something wrong with me. I am so blessed with health both physical and mental, my family, my home. We (as a society) have so much to smile about and yet we walk around solemn.

So next time you see someone with what society perceives as a disability, notice the smile on that persons face ( 9 times out of 10 there will be one) Think about the blessings in your life and put a smile on your face!

Random Things

I am up early this morning. I have my coffee, a little space heater, and a peanut butter cookie. (Thanks Haney family)...Life is good.
There are several things I am going to try to write about before my girls wake up (they tend to know when I'm up)

First
Claire had her 1 year well check Wednesday. Did I mention I missed it last month and had to reschedule. OOPS! Dr. Medford said she is doing great. She was impressed by her vocabulary, my children seem to be talkers from an early age. (I wonder where they get that) Claire weighs 20.2 lbs so she only gained .2lbs since her 9 month check but Dr. Medford said that is okay because she looks very healthy. We both think since she was weaned at 10 1/2 months that had something to do with her lack of weight gain. She is still in the 50 percentile for her weight.
All of Claire's growth came in her height. She grew 3 inches.... COOL HUH! ( I hope she is tall like her daddy) She is 31 inches tall. When they told me this I thought ~ you only have to be 36" to ride rides at Wonderland~ LOL! Claire went from 75% to 95% to OFF THE CHART! I love it that she is tall. I didn't realize she was but it's great sense mommy is only 5' 3".
Second
Morgan had a big week at school. She got to go Christmas shopping with her class and she had her Christmas Concert. Morgan is just like me in the fact that it is impossible for her to keep a secret. If you don't want people to know something you probably should not tell us. She has already told me what she bought for Me, Caleb and Claire. HEHEHE! When she told me what it was I cried. She has the sweetest spirit. She is such a good girl. I had a rough time with her right after Claire was born but lately she has been so sweet and precious. I am so proud of her. She is a great example of love. Okay enough...sniffff...
Her concert was great too. I could actually her her little voice. I don't know if it was my prime time seating or if she was belting it out but either way mommy was happy. I also had a great angle for my video taping.
~I would like to interject here how proud of my 2 year olds I am. You guys did a great job yesterday!~
Third
I have been reading a really great book the past few weeks. I would definitely recommend it to you! It is Captivating by John & Stasi Eldredge.(pretend that is underlined)
Have you heard of Wild at Heart? well this is the companion book for women.
The book talks about Eve (you) being the crown of creation. It really puts worth to women. It talks about creation being like a great work of art, or a piece of music. It builds, and builds, each creation getting better, more detailed, more complex, more beautiful. Think about it.
Here is the quote " It is nearing the end of the sixth day, the end of the Creator's great labor, as Adam steps forth the image of God, the triumph of his work. Nothing in creation even comes close. He is... magnificent. Truly the masterpiece is complete. And yet, the Master says something is not good, not right. Something is missing...and that some thing is Eve."
" She is the crescendo,the final, astonishing work of God.Woman. ... She is the Master's finishing touch. ..... Eve is.... breathtaking. Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds to even higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the crown of creation? Not an afterthought. ~Isn't that a cool quote and that is just a tiny piece, don't you want to go get the book! That's all I will quote today but you might want to read it again ladies. Then remember that the God of all creation needed you for his work to be complete. You represent a part of God that a man simply could not.
Here's a little more... "She has a crucial role to play, a destiny of her own. And she to bears the image of God, but in a way that only the feminine can speak. What can we learn from her? God wanted to reveal something about himself, so he gave us Eve."
Okay I'll stop but they say it so much better than I can. Go get the book...Trust me!

My Christmas Favorites

First I want to share our Christmas pictures with you. These are pictures of pictures, what can I say my scanner is not hooked up and I like to improvise!

These pictures really turned out beautiful.

My second favorite thing is my tree. Morgan was a tremendous help putting the ornaments on this year. I was surprised how high she hung some of the ornaments. I didn't even have to move anything she put on this year! WOW she is getting big. She also helped put things around the house, she was so excited. She kept panting loudly and saying "what can I do next for you next Mommy?" It was super cute!

Here is the tree with our stockings. Caleb and I have the snowmen. Morgan has the bear and Claire has the gingerbread girl! The dogs have stockings too, I guess I need to get Kit Kat one!
My next favorite thing is my church with angel choir! This set was hand painted my my Aunt! It's beautiful.

My candy canes have a great story behind them! When my Mom and Dad were first married they didn't have much money for extras like Christmas decorations so my Mom made these out of an old dress! Isn't that cool! I love them!

This is my absolute favorite thing. My snow village. Although it is dollar general it was my Grandma's (she left it to me when she died) I treasure this!

Next are some pictures I took of us decorating the tree and the girls playing afterward. It is a tradition in our house to lay under the tree for a little while after we put the lights on.

Thanksgiving Holiday

This was our families year to go down to south Texas (San Saba) to visit my dads side of the family. Despite the 8 hour drive we always have a good time catching up with cousins. My Nanny (dad's mom) is the star of Thanksgiving though. She is always so happy to have everyone in the same town that she makes each person their own pie. I get coconut cream minus the meringue. Just imagine about 25ish pie's in addition to a Turkey, a Ham, Dressing, Gravy, and many other sides. I always manage to eat too much. Here are some pictures we took of some of the kids in the park. Yes it's after dark because the guys promised to take the kids to the park but they didn't finish golfing until dark.

Here is one of Morgan on our drive home today. She puked every hour last night, from 1am to 5am and then once in the car...all things considered she looks pretty good.

Needless to say we are glad to be home!

One step ahead of the trend!

My mom seems to always be one step ahead of the trend. A few years back she wanted bedding that was animal print and red. Of course there was NOTHING like this in stores so she made her own! Today you can find animal print and red EVERYWHERE!


Well now she has been looking for animal print Christmas ornaments...and guess what NOTHING! We have searched online and in stores and we cannot find any animal print ornaments. Next year I'm sure they will be everywhere but in the mean time I decided to make some! I really like the way they turned out so I think I am going to do zebra and giraffe.

The Party

My day started at 7:00 this morning, unless you count the hour I lay in bed thinking of everything I needed to do. I worked all day, literally I just sat down and its 7 pm now. I can't complain thought becauses Claire's party was a huge success!
I made all the cupcakes and her smash cup-cake!I also made cucumber sandwiches and heavenly tea! YUMMY! I added bling to Claire's outfit, and made her bows. Claire got just the right amount of toys, 4 outfits, 2 pair of shoes and one pair of socks! Thank you to everyone who came and helped us celebrate!!!
