The BIG 30!

Well it happened, I turned 30 today. I feel the same, I look the same...I am the same! I know it is a big deal to some people but to me it was just another birthday, another day.

In my 30 years I have made some awesome memories. My child hood was great, I was very blessed to grow up in a house with both my parents and it was important to them to take me to church every Sunday and Wednesday. I was saved at an early age, 5 I think. My mother in law was the Sunday school teacher the day I gave my heart to Jesus!

As a 3rd grader I had a crush on Caleb (yes my husband). At church camp he took me to the banquet, He brought me stinky, sticky purple wild flowers and a snickers bar(still my favorite candy bar). On a church camp out I forgot my blanket and got to sleep with his! LOL! I was so boy crazy.

As I became a teenager my crush on Caleb waned and I found myself (according to my mother in law) with lots of other boyfriends. The best high school memory I have is my senior year, my sister was a freshman and we dated best friends. It was fun spending every second with her. She is my VERY best friend to this day!

After high school I attended Amarillo College on a full scholarship (vocal music) That was fun and full of concerts and trips. There is nothing like singing in an awesome choir (I will do it again someday) I also was in the chours in some Operas...The Mikado, and Carmen were two of my favorites.

Then (also according to my mother in law) Caleb asked me on a date between boyfriends. I was a college freshman and he was a senior in high school. He took me to Discover 96' ,remember that (Labor day, fireworks) We went on a few dates and then when I decided to break up with him because we were just friends. It was then that I discovered I was actually in love and couldn't live one more day with out him in my world! We married March 11, 2000.( the best thing I have ever done)

Our adventure has been great so far. We have bought, fixed up and sold 3 houses. We also hve rental property. This is Caleb's dream so I stand behind him.

Our first daughter Morgan was born May 24, 2004

and our second daughter Claire was born November 16, 2007 We also have a baby in heaven, I had an ectopic pregnancy in 2006. It was a tough time. I cannot complain though my life has been easy. I am so blessed to be where I am in life and surrounded by people who love me. If you are one of those people, thank you ! You are a big part of the reason my life is so awesome and this birthday is one I am so thankful for. My 30 years have been BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE and I feel like my story has just begun.............

In the midst of the storm

As a child I was taught to be deathly afraid of thunderstorms. I thought all thunderstorms brought tornado's. This fear came down the line from my Grandma (my mom's mom). Every time there was severe weather my Grandma would call and off we would rush to her house. (she had a bomb shelter out back) A a child this was kind of fun because all of my cousins would be there too.But to put this family fear in perspective my older cousin Chad was so afraid he would often throw up. One night I remember I had the chicken pox, there was a storm in the middle of the night and we drove in the rain to my Grandma's. When we all hopped out of the car my Dad shut my fingers in the car door. That is one storm I will never forget. Of all the times we went to Grandma's in a panic there was never once an actual tornado. Now that I think about it there may not have even been one in our vicinity, but my Dad took us anyway I think to make my Grandma and Mom feel better.
As an adult I have struggled to overcome the fear of storms because I don't want to pass it on to my children. I thought I had done a good job of this, but last night all those fears came rushing back.
Claire and I were at home and Morgan was at her Noni's house when my Mom called. Mom said we were going to have hail and bad weather and to watch the news. I ignored her good advice and kept on surfing the net. Then to my shock the sirens started sounding...it wasn't even raining? Caleb called as I was turning on the T.V. and he said he thought there was a tornado on Bell street. I was in a panic, I did not know what to do. I kept saying what do I do, as I carried Claire around the house in circles...(kinda funny I know) I said I should have gone to your mom's house (she has a basement and Morgan was there, I'm so glad she didn't see me like this!) He said GO there is time. So I ran out the door and headed to Noni's with the dogs in tow. I left the front door unlocked, and the T.V. on. I drove 50 mph down 15th street and even ran a red light. The sky was churning and the sirens were blaring. I was so scared I just kept praying the whole way.
As it turned out there was no tornado after all and all that panic was for nothing just as in my childhood days. I did learn something though. I am unprepared for an emergency and I need a plan. So I will buy a first aid kit and a flashlight and I will keep it in our interior bathroom just in case. And next time I can assure you I will turn off the computer and turn on the T.V.!

Fathers!

Happy Fathers day to my wonderful husband, Caleb. You teach me so much about unconditional love. You are a great daddy to our girls and I am so blessed that God gave you to me!

To my Daddy,
I love you so much, you are wonderful. Thank you for teaching me to put God first in my life. You are a wonderful dad and a great grandpa. I couldn't ask for more!

And to my heavenly Father,
1John3:1 (message)
What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it-we are called children of God! That's who we really are.

What a blessing to be adopted into the beloved. What else can I say but, Yes I believe! Thank you for your love.

Saturday

We have had a fun day today! Since my birthday is this weekend and we are having a party we wanted to do something fun that didn't cost anything. We decided to go on a picnic at Thompson park. It was really fun and relaxing. I think Amarillo is getting more humid every year. Anyway here are some cute pictures.

The cost of a child!

I did not write this but I liked it!
ENJOY!!!

I have repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way. It's nice.

The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140.00 for a middle income family. Talk about price shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition.

But $160,140.00 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into:

* $8,896.66 a year,
* $741.38 a month, or
* $171.08 a week.
* That's a mere $24.24 a day!
* Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice is don't have children if you want to be 'rich.' Actually, it is just the opposite.

What do you get for your $160,140.00?

* Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
* Glimpses of God every day.
* Giggles under the covers every night.
* More love than your heart can hold.
* Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
* Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
* A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.
* A partner for blowing bubbles and flying kites.
* Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.

For $160,140.00, you never have to grow up. You get to:

* finger-paint,
* carve pumpkins,
* play hide-and-seek,
* catch lightning bugs, and
* never stop believing in Santa Claus.

You have an excuse to:

* keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
* watch Saturday morning cartoons,
* go to Disney movies, and
* wish on stars.
* You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under & lt; /FONT>refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.

For a mere $24.24 a day, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for:

* retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
* taking the training wheels off a bike,
* removing a splinter,
* filling a wading pool,
* coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.

You get a front row seat in history to witness the:
* first step,
* first word,
* first date, and
* first time behind the wheel.
You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great grandchildren. You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, and communications, that no college can match.

In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost. That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!!

Love & enjoy your children & grandchildren & great-grandchildren !!!!!!!
It's the best investment you'll make!

The Song of the Eagle

Last night our family got the opportunity to see the Kwahati Dancers preform! It was FANTASTIC! Their elaborate costumes kept the attention of my 7 month old. While Morgan said "mommy it (costumes) kinda scared me off a Little" lol!
They danced to a cool drum and song that was accompanied by the bells around their ankles! They had some history before every dance witch made it that much more interesting. I think my favorite dance was the Fire Dance. I was also chosen to dance the friendship dance with the Indians! (thanks Reed) Morgan really liked seeing Mommy out there. I know two of the boys that dance in the show but I did not realise all the hard work that goes into it. If you have a chance this summer take your kids out to the show they will love it. There is dinner at 6:30pm and the dance starts at 7:00pm. They also have a museum and gift shop with some pretty jewelry. You can visit their web site at http://www.kwahadi.com/

AKC Yorkie Puppies!

My moms dog Kiki had her puppies on June 11th they will be ready to go sometime in August. The females are $1200.00 and the male is $1000.00. Yorkies are really good dogs and they are great with kids! My sister has 2 yorkies and her children are 3 and 11 months. Kiki is from my sisters dogs, Jules & Fonzi's 1st litter, so we know these puppies have a very healthy background. There is no guarentee on how big the puppies will get but Kiki is 5 1/2 lbs and the stud is 2 1/2 lbs!
If you are interested my email address is mistylmalone@yahoo.com
